Information on the signing process of the Agreement on Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica Contracting Scheme

The signing process of the Agreement on Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica Contracting Scheme is almost concluded with one signature still pending. Due to the internal decision making procedures in Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, the signing of the Agreement by this signatory party will be completed in the upcoming days.  

As we informed already last week, all three countries have agreed to the Agreement and demonstrated readiness to sign it. The Agreement defines the procurement roles of the joint venture RB Rail, implementing bodies and beneficiaries.

In order to give more detailed information about the responsibilities of each organisation involved in Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica project, including procurement organisation and fulfilment, as well as other questions, media representatives are invited to attend a press conference which is organised jointly by Rail Baltic/Rail Batlica project implementers on October 5th, 10:30 AM (local time) at the Ministry of Transport of Republic of Latvia.

Press conference participants:

  • Baiba Rubesa, RB Rail, Chairman of the Board;
  • Indrek Orav, Member of the Management Board, Rail Baltic Estonia;
  • Dins Merirands, Member of the Board of Eiropas Dzelzceļa Līnijas Ltd.;
  • Nerijus Kaučikas, Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, Deputy Director, Department of International Relations and Development.

The press conference will be livestreamed on internet both in Latvia and other Baltic states. It will be available on Latvias' Information Agency's LETA internet website www.leta.lv as well as on Lithuanian and Estonian media internet websites http://www.15min.lt and http://www.postimees.ee.

During the press conference, the international media representatives are offered to participate in livestream Q&A sessions, which will be provided through interactive digital platform Sli.do. Questions can be sent in also by writing an e-mail to ligita.brodina@vilands.lv.

The press conference will take place at the Ministry of Transport of Republic of Latvia, on 3rd floor, room no. 313. Both Latvian and foreign media representatives are invited to participate in the event. We kindly ask to confirm your participation till October 4th, 4 PM (local time) by writing e-mail to: ligita.brodina@vilands.lv and providing your name, surname, as well as represented media. Your ID card/passport will be necessary to receive a pass to enter the Ministry of Transport.

The working language of the press conference is English.

"RB Rail AS"

“RB Rail AS” is a joint venture between the three Baltic States established in October 2014. Holding equal shares in “RB Rail AS” are SIA “Eiropas dzelzceļa līnijas” in Latvia, UAB “Rail Baltica statyba” in Lithuania and OU “Rail Baltic Estonia” in Estonia.

“RB Rail AS” is the central co-ordinator for the Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica project. The project involves the construction of a high speed rail line from Tallinn to the Lithuanian/Polish border. Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica will be an electrified public use rail line, an environmentally friendly and modern form of transportation.

About Q&A session and Sli.do digital platform

Sli.do is an interactive digital platform, which provides participation in Q&A sessions from any country all around the world. By opening internet browser, typing address of the homepage https://app.sli.do and entering code of the event, which will be announced during the livestream of the conference, all media representatives will have the chance to ask their questions to the spokespersons of the press conference, not exceeding 140 characters. Press conference moderator will administrate all incoming questions.
