Lietuvos Geležinkeliai has signed the Agreement on the Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica Contracting Scheme. Thus all nine signatory parties – RB Rail AS, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, Rail Baltic Estonia OU, Estonian Technical Regulatory Authority, Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas SIA, Rail Baltica Statyba UAB, Lietuvos Geležinkeliai AB – have signed the document, thus concluding the formal process of the agreement approval.
Consequently, the Management Board of RB Rail will start to work on the mechanisms needed to implement the principles of the agreement for the entire project. This is key to be able to meet the project’s deadlines in the short- to mid-term.
At the beginning of the week, RB Rail will follow up with INEA and DG MOVE in regard to the notice of the EU’s Directorate General on Transport and Mobility (DG MOVE) to RB Rail stating that there will be an immediate review of the project by the Innovations and Network Executive Agency (INEA) with a view to INEA suspending, reducing, recovering or terminating the Lithuanian activities and funding under the current Grant agreement as well as regarding the fact that DG MOVE has also instructed INEA to suspend the negotiations establishing the Grant Agreement for the second CEF Call 2015 for the Lithuanian part of the activities and funding.
