Today, April 25, more than 200 potential suppliers of the Rail Baltica project from 18 countries meet in Riga to attend “Industry Suppliers’ Day” – an international event that is part of “RB Rail AS” organized “Rail Baltica Global Forum 2017” devoted to the project’s implementation. The event is streamed live on the official event website www.railbaltica.org/forum.
“Industry Suppliers’ Day” is gathering in one place companies from the three Baltic states, as well as companies from Poland, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Russia, Netherlands, Belarus, Spain, Japan and China will be represented at the event. Among the participants are representatives of the construction industry, energetics, architecture and design, IT and communications, transport, logistics and storage, finances, insurance, real estate, consulting, manufacturing and production, wholesale and retail trade as well as other industries interested in the Rail Baltica project development seeing a potential growth opportunities for their businesses. “Industry Suppliers’ Day” is specially dedicated to the topics related to the project’s procurement, giving detailed information about 37 forthcoming procurement of this year and their schedule, to inform on possibilities to receive or find the most topical information on procurement information on www.railbaltica.org. The aim of the Industry Suppliers’ Day is to gather in one place the potential project’s suppliers not only from all three Baltic States, but also from European countries and to introduce them with the project’s procurement procedures as well as other necessary practical information. The aim of the event is also to facilitate formation of partnerships between national and foreign companies in order to strengthen competition in the procurement of the Rail Baltica Global Project [1].
Baiba Rubesa, CEO and Chairperson of the Management Board of “RB Rail AS”, will give a presentation on the progress of the three Baltic countries in implementation of the Rail Baltica Global project, the general project’s timetable and financing, as well as the distribution of responsibilities between the project implementers. She also will present the main data and acknowledgments of the latest study on the projects Cost-Benefit Analysis, which was widely discussed on the First Day of the Forum. Meanwhile Kaspars Rokens, Chief Operations Officer, is going to talk on the Rail Baltica procurement organization and regulation, procurement policy, its principles and guidelines.
Kristjan Kaunissaare, “Rail Baltic Estonia” coordinator in Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, Dins Merirands, Member of the Board of “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas” and Dainius Budrys, Director of “Rail Baltica Statyba”, will present the national peculiarities of procurement processes that have to be taken into consideration for companies willing to participate in the Rail Baltica project procurement.
Kaido Zimmermann, “RB Rail AS” Planning and Implementation Manager, as well as Kaspars Briškens, “RB Rail AS” Business Development Manager, will give an insight to this year’s procurement related to studies and design. However, Agnis Driksna, Cooperation Department Director of “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas”, will inform about the procurement on the designing and construction of the Riga Central Railway Station and its territory.
