Announced detailed technical design tender for Rail Baltica railway track in Latvia

On January 26, tender for detailed technical design of the railway line in Latvia has been announced for sections Upeslejas – Riga Central Station, Tornkalns – Imanta, Riga Airport – the Misa river, covering approximately 57 km of the railway line. The joint venture of the three Baltic States RB RAIL AS has announced restricted competition for “Design and design supervision services for the construction of the mainline section through Riga” that is procured for the benefit of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia. Proposal submission deadline for the tender is February 28, 2018.

 

“With this tender for the detailed technical design of the first 57 km of Rail Baltica railway track in Latvia we have launched the Rail Baltica detailed technical design preparation process in all three Baltic countries.  Nevertheless, these three competitions are only a few of many upcoming railway design tenders to be carried out until 2022 in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania,” said Jean-Marc Bedmar, Senior Engineer of RB RAIL AS.

 

This competition consists of two stages: (1) selection of candidates who will be invited to submit a proposal in the second stage of the Competition and (2) evaluation of the proposals submitted by candidates which were invited to submit a proposal and award of rights to conclude a contract. The detailed information on the scope of the services to be procured shall be provided to the candidates qualified in the first stage of Competition.

 

The objective of this tender is design and design supervision services for the construction of the mainline section through Riga.

As previously announced at the end of the December, the first detailed technical design of the railway line in Estonia (from Pärnu to Rapla) and in Lithuania (from Kaunas to Ramygala) have been announced. The submission deadline for both tenders has been extended to February 21, 2018.
