Joint venture announces tender to produce the procurement and deployment strategy for the electrification of Rail Baltica
The joint venture of the three Baltic States, RB RAIL AS has announced an open competition “Rail Baltica energy subsystem procurement and deployment strategy”, Id. No. RBR 2018/8. With optimum interoperability and cost efficiency in mind, the three Baltic States have mandated the joint venture to deliver the critical railway infrastructure element – energy subsystem – in a consolidated fashion for the entire project across the Baltic States. In case of this announced tender, the important preparatory study will put forward a single solution for energy subsystem of the Rail Baltica railway line throughout the entire route in three countries. Interested suppliers shall submit their proposals electronically by the tools offered through E-Tenders system till 4 July 2018.
The second detailed technical design tender for Rail Baltica railway track in Latvia announced
The joint venture of the three Baltic States RB RAIL AS has announced the next restricted competition, defining the advancement of the Rail Baltica Global project design phase in Latvia. Tender for “Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new line on the section Vangaži – Salaspils – Misa” that will cover 60 km of the railway line is procured in the interest of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Latvia. The submission deadline for the proposal is June 18, 2018.
Rail Baltica Design Guidelines Approved
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, Ministry of Transportation of Latvia and Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Lithuania have approved the Design Guidelines for Rail Baltica, the common design standard mandatory for design, construction and operations of the Rail Baltica infrastructure. The Design Guidelines manual was prepared by the French company SYSTRA S.A., a consulting and engineering group which previously in an open competition was awarded to develop unified design guidelines for the Rail Baltica Global Project.
Contract on Rail Baltica Infrastructure Management Study Awarded to Atkins
The Contracting Authority, joint venture RB RAIL AS, has signed a contract with the design, engineering and project management consultancy Atkins (a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group) as a result of the tender “Rail Baltica Infrastructure Management Study” announced on November 8, 2017. The subject-matter of the contract is a study on Infrastructure Management for the Rail Baltica Global project.
The next calls for detailed technical design tenders for Rail Baltica railway track announced
The first phase of the next tenders for the detailed technical design of the railway line in Estonia and Lithuania has been announced this month, continuing implementation of the design phase of the Rail Baltica project. The joint venture of the three Baltic States RB RAIL AS has announced restricted competitions for the “Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new line from Tallinn to Rapla” and the “Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new line from Ramygala to Lithuanian-Latvian state border”. Both are procured for the benefit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania. Proposal submission deadline for both tenders is May 15, 2018.

Today, April 11, around 500 potential suppliers of the Rail Baltica project representing more than 300 companies from 24 countries across the globe are gathering in Tallinn for the Industry Suppliers’ Day – an international event that is part of RB RAIL AS organized Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018 devoted to the project’s implementation. Supervisory Board: looking forward to making a good progress with all partners in the Rail Baltica project implementation
In today’s meeting, Supervisory Board took important decisions for fostering the project’s implementation and approved contracting the British company ATKINS Plc to carry out the projects infrastructure management study. Supervisory Board also approved that the Management Board of RB Rail can start procurements of detailed technical designs for the following sessions in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The updated RB Rail annual budget for 2018 was approved.
The first Rail Baltica construction design and supervision contract signed in the Baltics
On March 20 the first Rail Baltica construction design and supervision contract on the construction design of Rail Baltica’s airport Riga railway station, related infrastructure, and viaduct was signed during a formal event. It was signed by the European gauge project implementer in Latvia “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas” SIA and the winner of the open international tender – partnership of suppliers from three countries „PROSIV” („Sintagma” (Italy), „Prodex” (Slovakia) and „Vektors T” (Latvia)).
Mart Nielsen appointed as CTO, a Management Board Member of RB Rail AS
As of March 19, 2018, Mart Nielsen serves as the Chief Technical Officer and Member of Management Board of RB Rail AS. He joins three other Members of the Management Board – Baiba A. Rubesa, CEO, Kaspars Rokens, COO, and Ignas Degutis, CFO.
Over 70 procurements are planned to be announced within Rail Baltica project this year
At the moment, more than 70 procurements are planned to be announced this year as part of the Rail Baltica Global Project in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
