On 12 November, the largest tender for the construction of the Rail Baltica railway line in Latvia was launched. To support the procurement process and to inform interested suppliers, answer their questions, and obtain feedback on the announced international tender „Rail Baltica mainline construction in Latvia”, the Rail Baltica national implementing body – Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas – is inviting to an online webinar on December 7, 2021 at 3 p.m. (EET).
The tender “Rail Baltica main line construction in Latvia” aims for an early contractor involvement to carry out the Rail Baltica mainline, and infrastructure construction works in Latvia (outside the capital city of Riga). The international tender for the construction works will be carried out in two stages. It is expected that the winner will be chosen, and contract concluded at the end of 2022, ensuring that the construction of the new railway line can start in the first half of 2023.
About the webinar
During the webinar members of the construction industry will be introduced to the tender qualification requirements for the first stage of the procurement. Additionally, more information about mainline construction contract general principles will be provided on subject of early contractor involvement, requirements for planning and development before construction and main principles of organization of the contract. A question-and-answer session will be held during the meeting.
To participate in the consultation the interested supplier should apply by 7 December 2021 10:00 (Riga time) by sending message to e-mail [email protected] containing company name, registration number, participant name(-s), e-mail address and phone number (the interested supplier is entitled to indicate a maximum of 3 representatives).
Registration is required to secure invitation to the MS Teams meeting. Duration of the meeting is estimated to be about two hours. Invitations to registered participants will be sent no later than by 7 December 202112:00 (Riga time).

About tender “Rail Baltica Mainline construction in Latvia”
Tender will be held in two stages: during the first stage candidates will be selected therefore evaluation and discussions of proposals, submission of final proposals and the conclusion of the procurement contract will take place in the second stage.
Candidates must apply for the tender by 28 January 2022. The second stage is planned to be announced in April 2022 to conclude a contract with the winner of the second procurement stage at the end of 2022 and start the construction works in the first half of 2023.

The total length of the Rail Baltica railway line in Latvia is approximately 260 km starting at the Lithuania-Latvia border and running through 10 municipal territories: Bauska, Ķekava, Olaine, Mārupe county, the capital city Riga towards the direction of Estonia through Salaspils, Ropaži, Sigulda, Saulkrasti and Limbaži counties.
Up to 85% of the project is financed from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility with the remaining part being ensured by the Latvian state budget.
