French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to explore Rail Baltica project during visit to Latvia

During her official visit to Latvia on Friday, 29 September, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, will acquaint herself with the Rail Baltica project. France is an important partner for the Rail Baltica project, with close collaboration with French companies in various aspects of Rail Baltica implementation.

Minister Colonna will meet with Latvian Minister of Transport Kaspars Briškens, management representatives – Thierry Boussillon, Chief Programme Management Officer and Emilien Dang, Chief Technical Officer – of the project’s central coordinator RB Rail AS, the national implementing body in Latvia SIA Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, building company BERERIX, and the French engineering company Egis representing the Rail Baltica Central Node construction team. The minister will visit the Rail Baltica Riga Central Node to inspect the construction progress at one of Latvia’s international Rail Baltica stations.

The French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs will also meet with State President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Arvils Ašeradens. They will discuss bilateral relations between Latvia and France, cooperation in various strategic partnership areas, international organizations, as well as exchange views on the regional and international situation.
