More than 100 youngsters visited the Rail Baltica Riga Central Station construction site as part of the Job Shadow Day 2022

On April 6, the annual “Job Shadow Day 2022” took place during which Latvian youngsters got acquainted with professions of various fields, shadowing their representatives in their daily work. During the day, more than 100 youngsters visited the construction site of the future Rail Baltica Central Hub in Riga.

Shadowing specialists who work on the implementation of the Rail Baltica global project at the Ministry of Transport, youngsters learned about such topics as co-operation with European Union institutions and other strategic stakeholders, attracting funding and land acquisition.

Also, around 60 pupils and students visited the construction site within the educational campaign “Learn construction” organized by the association Building design and construction council (BDCC, www.buvniekupadome.lv) and in cooperation with the Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS.

For the students who are currently choosing their future profession, the Rail Baltica project experts’ advice to explore opportunities within the railway sector considering that Rail Baltica will create many new jobs for the widest range of professionals.

“Qualified railway specialists are needed today, but especially when the high-speed train will start running on the new European gauge tracks. The range of professions is the widest – from engineers, traction drivers, electrical network technicians, track performance maintainers and providers, environmental experts, programmers and many more,” during the “Job Shadow Day 2022” emphasized experts of the Rail Baltica national implementing body “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas”.
