More than 300 companies from 24 countries represented at the Industry Suppliers’ Day of the Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018

Today, April 11, around 500 potential suppliers of the Rail Baltica project representing more than 300 companies from 24 countries across the globe are gathering in Tallinn for the Industry Suppliers’ Day – an international event that is part of RB RAIL AS organized Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018 devoted to the project’s implementation. Supervisory Board: looking forward to making a good progress with all partners in the Rail Baltica project implementation

In today’s meeting, Supervisory Board took important decisions for fostering the project’s implementation and approved contracting the British company ATKINS Plc to carry out the projects infrastructure management study. Supervisory Board also approved that the Management Board of RB Rail can start procurements of detailed technical designs for the following sessions in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The updated RB Rail annual budget for 2018 was approved.

The first Rail Baltica construction design and supervision contract signed in the Baltics

On March 20 the first Rail Baltica construction design and supervision contract on the construction design of Rail Baltica’s airport Riga railway station, related infrastructure, and viaduct was signed during a formal event. It was signed by the European gauge project implementer in Latvia “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas” SIA and the winner of the open international tender – partnership of suppliers from three countries „PROSIV” („Sintagma” (Italy), „Prodex” (Slovakia) and „Vektors T” (Latvia)).

Egis Rail S.A to study feasibility and technical framework on a rail connection in Tallinn

After finalising the procurement procedure, the joint venture RB RAIL AS, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia and French company Egis Rail S.A. have signed a contract on preparation of the feasibility and technical framework study for a rail (light rail or tram) connection from Rail Baltica Ülemiste passenger terminal to the Tallinn passenger port (Vanasadam) on February 27, 2018. The contract price is 170,984 EUR, excluding VAT.

Route setting and spatial territorial planning for Rail Baltica railway finalised in all three Baltic states

On Wednesday, 14 February, the Ministry of Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia approved the spatial plan for the Rail Baltica railway in Estonia, leading to setting of the final route and preliminary design of the railway in this northern Baltic state. The spatial planning for the entire line was approved in Latvia by the decision of the Latvian Government in August, 2016, and followed by approval of the Lithuanian Government in January, 2017 for their respective section from Kaunas to the Lithuanian – Latvian border in Lithuania*. In the light of Estonia’s decision, the spatial territorial planning and preliminary technical design of the Rail Baltica railway in the Baltic states has been finalised.

RB Rail announces tender for BIM Strategy preparation

With the decision to use Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Rail Baltica project implementation, RB Rail AS has announced an open competition “Development of detailed BIM (Building Information Modelling) strategy for Rail Baltica railway”.  Proposals shall be submitted electronically by 8 March 2018, by 15:00 o’clock.

RB RAIL AS, the joint venture of the three Baltic States, with the support of the project’s national implementing bodies – Rail Baltic Estonia, Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas and Rail Baltica statyba – announces the milestone international two-day event of the Rail Baltica project – the Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018 on 10 – 11 April, Tallinn, Estonia and opens registration for the event.

Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018

The Rail Baltica Global Forum 2018 was the key international Rail Baltica event of the year that  discussed the Rail Baltica role in the North Sea – Baltic TEN-T Core Network Corridor, the project’s procurement and financing, as well as will facilitate suppliers’ networking. It addressed strategic and tactical issues regarding the implementation of the “Project of the Century” from a national, regional and EU perspective, and will bring together top executives and decision makers, rail, logistics and economics professionals, influential politicians and institutions as well as potential suppliers for the project from across Europe.
