On Friday, 20 October a meeting of the Ministers from the Baltic States took place with the participation of Latvia’s Minister of Transport Kaspars Briškens, Estonia’s Minister of Climate, Kristen Michal, and Lithuania’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Marius Skuodis.
During the meeting, among other topics, discussions on various topics related to the effective advancement of the Rail Baltica project, reaching a common vision on European Union transport issues, including revisions of the TEN-T regulation and the multiannual financial framework were held.
“Rail Baltica is not just a project of Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania – it is a Baltic-wide project. It is a vision of a unified backbone for Baltic and European connectivity, an economic development corridor, and a pillar of security. That’s why I have invited Estonia’s Climate and Lithuania’s Transport and Communications Ministers to meet in Riga to discuss the project’s further development. The Baltic States must show Europe that we can implement projects of this caliber, and we will do so by working together in the interest of the Baltic and European goals,” emphasized the Minister of Transport of Latvia, Kaspars Briškens.
Additionally, the ministers discussed coordinated preparation for the operational phase of the Rail Baltica project.
