6 November 2020, Rīga – the shareholders of Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS appointed Sandor Liive, an experienced executive and entrepreneur to the Supervisory Board of the company. He will replace the Estonian representative Anti Moppel.
“Sandor Liive brings extensive experience in managing both public and private companies to the Rail Baltica joint venture, which will undoubtedly contribute to the completion of the railway connection that is crucial for the Baltics and Europe,” said Tõnu Grünberg, Estonian shareholder representative of RB Rail AS and Chairman of the Management Board of OÜ Rail Baltic Estonia.
Sandor Liive has held senior leadership positions in the Port of Tallinn and Estonian energy company Enefit. While with Enefit, he managed to transform the company from a local utility provider to an international energy company. Currently, Sandor Liive is engaged in various enterprises, amongst many, he is a senior advisor for private equity funds, Member of the Supervisory Board of an asset management start-up Tuleva, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Pakri Science and Industrial Park.
The Supervisory Board of RB Rail AS consists of six members who are elected for a three-year period. Each shareholder nominates two Supervisory Board members. The function of the Supervisory Board is to select the company’s management, establish and execute a corporate control environment, and provide its strategic guidance.
The Supervisory Board of RB Rail AS includes the following members:
Nominated by Estonian shareholder: Ahti Kuningas, Deputy Secretary General for Transport at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication of Estonia and Sandor Liive, independent Supervisory Board member.
Nominated by Latvian shareholder: Ligita Austrupe, Deputy State Secretary of Ministry of Transport of Latvia and Anrī Leimanis, independent Supervisory Board member.
Nominated by Lithuanian shareholder: Karolis Sankovski, CEO at AB LTG INFRA, and Romas Švedas, Chairman of the Board at AB LTG.
Anrī Leimanis serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
