To introduce a wide range of railway and transport industry products and solutions, the “German Railway Trade Mission in the Baltic States” is taking place in Riga and Vilnius.
On Tuesday, September 26th, representatives of the Ministry of Transport in Latvia and the Rail Baltica global project met with leading German railway industry companies to provide insights into Latvia’s railway sector and share experiences regarding the upcoming implementation of European standard gauge railways.
The Latvian delegation included Kārlis Eņģelis, Head of the Railway Policy and Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of Transport, and representatives of the Rail Baltica delivery organizations, including Arnis Staltmanis, a member of the Board of Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, Anita Rūdule-Jansone, Project Manager of Rail Baltica Central Station, and Ēriks Diļevs, Technical Director of RB Rail AS in Latvia.
“Germany is a pivotal partner for Rail Baltica in all dimensions of the project today, not only during infrastructure development but also in paving the way for future commercial success. Up to this point, at various stages of the project, Rail Baltica has cooperated with seven partners from Germany who play an integral role in the physical delivery of the infrastructure. We have also cultivated long-term strategic relationships with various industry associations and enduring partnerships within the sector,” said Ēriks Diļevs.
Germany is a significant partner for Latvia in the implementation of the Rail Baltica project. Currently, seven German companies are involved in the project, providing design and technical expertise in construction, as well as future railway infrastructure operation and transportation consulting services.
At the end of the visit, German entrepreneurs familiarized themselves with ongoing construction work at the Rail Baltica Riga Central Railway Hub and discussed the project’s progress in Latvia.
The “German Railway Trade Mission in the Baltic States” is organized by AHP International in collaboration with Gateway&Partners.
